Tournament Entry Agreement & Liability Waiver

By registering for and participating in this tournament, I (the "Participant"), or the parent/guardian of the Participant if they are a minor, acknowledge and agree to the following terms and conditions:

1. Definitions

• "Personal Injury": Has its ordinary English meaning and includes any injury for which a person might be awarded General Damages and/or Special Damages at Common Law.

• "The Releasors": Means the Participant’s family, dependents, heirs, executors, assigns, and any person(s) claiming through them.

• "The Releasees": Means the management committee, officials, instructors, venue operators, referees, volunteers, and agents of the ICKFA (Sunshine Coast Branch) Inc., and any person(s) jointly or severally involved in the conduct of the tournament.

• "Any Action": Means any claim, right, and/or cause of action for damages at Common Law or pursuant to any statute.

2. Assumption of Risk

I acknowledge that participation in a martial arts tournament carries a significant risk of personal injury. These inherent risks include, but are not limited to: physical contact, falls, sprains, fractures, concussions, and other related injuries. I voluntarily assume all such risks associated with the competition.

3. Release of Liability and Indemnity

• Waiver: I, for myself and the Releasors, hereby relinquish, release, and waive Any Action against the Releasees for any Personal Injury sustained by me arising out of or in the course of the competition, except in cases of proven gross negligence or willful misconduct.

• Indemnity: In the event of Any Action being commenced, I for myself and the Releasors hereby indemnify the Releasees against any costs and damages arising from or connected therewith.

4. Medical Fitness and Consent

• Fitness: I confirm that the Participant is physically fit and possesses no medical conditions that would prevent safe participation. I agree to disclose any relevant medical conditions to tournament officials prior to the start of events.

• Emergency Treatment: In the event of injury or illness, I authorize tournament officials to seek and provide emergency medical treatment as deemed necessary.

5. Rules and Conduct

I agree that the Participant will abide by all tournament rules, regulations, and the directions of officials. I understand that unsportsmanlike conduct or failure to follow safety protocols may result in immediate disqualification without refund.

6. Media Consent and Compensation Waiver

I acknowledge that I may be photographed or videoed during the tournament. I consent to the use of these materials for display, promotion, advertising, educational purposes, or sale for profit. I hereby waive all rights to compensation or royalties for appearing in such materials.

7. Personal Property

I understand that the Releasees are not responsible for the loss, theft, or damage of any personal property brought to the tournament venue.

Acknowledgement of Understanding By completing registration and entering this tournament, I confirm that I have read the definitions and terms above, fully understand them, and agree to be bound by them.
